IBEW46 - local union
Problem
IBEW46 is an electrician labor union organization with over 100 years in service. IBEW46 latest website had scattered membership content, multiple calls to actions and a lack of visual hierarchy creating a plateau on membership sign up. Without the ability to add individual pages the homepage became a dumping ground for announcements and miscellaneous content.
GOALS
Increase Member Sign up
Ability to add and remove content from the website with ease
Implement a way to have announcements to current and potential members
Solution
Define users, recreate the information architecture and update user flows to ensure the site pages don’t have any dead-ends. For the design, it was important to have a coherent color palette, dynamic layouts, and diverse photography.
What I did
Directed the discovery phase, met with the client to define goals and personas. Research competitors, updated the information architecture, created user flows, worked on wireframes and collaborated on the final designs. Also, documented all the information gathered throughout the project in a way that all the team members can understand and package everything up to the development team.
What I learned
Without final content, layouts may break, as you design keep content flexibility in mind.
